Grillo grapes - reference: Mi.P.A.A.F.

The grapes Grillo are typical of Western Sicily: for a long time they were exclusively cultivated in Marsala’s territory, they are the main vine for Marsala wine production. It’s certain that the Phoenicians used to cultivate it in the little archaeological island of Mothia, and maybe it could be the most long lasting vine in the millenary history of Sicily.

It’s distinguishable for its high sugar content, whereby it’s possible to obtain high alcohol degrees wines ageing without damages.

Nowadays, these grapes are the main characters in the Sicilian wines growing: from it, autochthonous vine for excellence, fabulous white wines are born rich of perfumes and flavours.
